PMP Trail Work Day

Join GROAZ and the City of Phoenix Park Rangers for a trail work day as we give the trails we enjoy year-round their needed TLC. The work may consist of pruning/trimming vegetation growing on the trail, repairing trail drainage, mitigating spider trails made by other users, transplanting living plants, and generally reclaiming the trail to improve its overall profile for all users.
Even if you’ve never done trailwork before, we’ve got you covered! Gather with us prior to 8:00AM at the Dreamy Draw Recreation Area trailhead for check-in, release form signatures, and safety orientation before we head out on the trail. Trailwork will begin promptly with crew leaders available to direct volunteers at the work site.
When: Saturday, January 23rd from 8:00AM-11:00AM
Where: PMP Dreamy Draw Recreation Area, 2421 E Northern Ave, Phoenix, Charles M. Christiansen Trail T100 “Chutes” area.
Parking: Special parking area has been reserved for confirmed volunteers who’ve registered with the Trailwork Coordinator. Instructions will be provided 24-48 hours prior to the event by the Trailwork Coordinator (see contact information below).
What to Wear: Check the weather forecast the day before and dress accordingly including layering your clothing. Wear closed toe shoes with good tread for walking/hiking and long pants/jeans or durable work shorts. If you are a GROAZ member, wear your GROAZ shirt, hat, and socks. If you need to buy GROAZ apparel, let us know and we’ll have it available on the day of the event.
What to Bring: A light daypack or hip pack with snacks, drinking water, hat, sunglasses/safety glasses, work gloves, facial covering, and sunblock/sunscreen.
Tools: We will supply all tools necessary for the day’s work.
Attendees: Due to COVID restrictions, we will be limiting the number of volunteers for each event to nine (9). If you sign up, commit to being there as you’ll be filling a much-needed spot on our crew.
How to Sign-up: Text Anthony Gloria, PMP Trailwork Coordinator (480-748-5802) with the names of people attending and contact information so he can reach you in case something comes up.
Deadline: Sign-up via email by 5:00PM Wednesday, January 20th.
